Day 5 Differences between US and Jamaica
The are both big in christianity, and both major languages are English. I learned that Jamaican's are cultural people and they have many traditions and celebrate many ceremonies. They are very religious and they follow their traditions. If I could I definitely would travel to Jamaica again, I would because it is a relaxing paradise where everyone is nice and it is modern but historical and cultural in some ways too!

Day 4 Country Differences
Today I will be traveling to Fiji to find the differences between it and Jamaica. Fiji has a sport called Rugby, which Jamaica does not. They also have soccer which is a lot like Jamaica's Football. They speak the same English language as Jamaica. They wear less modern clothes than Jamaica, they wear grass skirts and such. In Fiji they are more about grown foods such as fruits and vegetables, where as Jamaica is more about seafood. In Fiji they have more ceremonies and traditions. Fiji's main religion is also Christianity, but there is another strong religion there, which is Methodist. Bouma National Park is a great place to visit if you ever go to Fiji. It is in a beautiful rain forest that you can tour with a guide or on your own. There are two different trails that you can explore, the Bouma Falls Trail, or the Lavena Coastal Walk. Bouma Falls Trail is on the north-east coast, the main attraction there is the Tavoro Falls, which are three beautiful falls together. The Lavena Coastal Walk takes you to a small active village called Lavena, it is very historical and interesting.

Day 2 Sites
Negril is a very popular city in Jamaica, It is on the West Coast of Jamaica. A great place to visit is Negril, which is actually also a Hotel on the Negril Beach. The name Negril is a shortened name of "Negrillo" was named by the Spanish in 1494. The name came from the black hills south of Negril. The development of the Negril Resort was started in the late 1950's. Negril Resort is built between two other cities Westmoreland and Hanover. It was built for families or couples to come and relax, It is family friendly and there is lots to do while you're there. The reason I believe you should go there is because it is a beautiful place and there is the most wonderful and relaxing beach I have ever been to! Some of the things to do at the hotel are, relax on the beach, swim in the pool, play some golf or tennis, or eat at one of their delicious restaurant! The Peter Tosh Monument is located in Bluefields, Negril. The monument was named after a man who was a very famous musician who was said to have one of the most powerful voices ever. The monument is near Peter's home, where he was murdered. He was very respected by the people. It is a place where people can just relax and admire his monument. The monument was also built in Peter's memory, the people like to keep his spirit alive. I urge you to go here because it's so quiet and peaceful, it's a great place to go to relax but learn at the same time! Rhodes Hall Plantation is a family fun place to go, it is located also in Negril. It is named for the British Mercantile. It is rated #2 out of 21 sites in Negril. It has been around since the 1700's. It is a wonderful, and historic place. You can take horseback rides, tour around the area, and go in a group tour. Everyone there was very friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the British Mercantile while I was there, along with many other things. It has been built for people to have fun riding the horses, and touring, but not just for that, but to learn about the Rhode Hall Plantation's past. I really urge you to go to this site!

Day 1 Culture
I have just arrived in Jamaica and I'm just exploring around. I have noticed that most houses are made of either wood or stone. The reason stone houses are that in some areas there are Hurricanes. So the stone houses are sturdy against the Hurricanes.
Jamaicans have a similar cuisine as us Americans. They are big on seafood and meats. They like to use different flavors and spices. There meat comes from goat and chicken, mainly. But they are very big on seafood. It is very good!

Popular Sports in Jamaica are Basketball, Baseball, Boxing, Bobsled, Cricket, Football (which is Soccer there), Net Ball, Field Hockey, Track and Field, Pushcart, and The Jamaican Bobsleigh Team. Bobsled and Bobsleigh are winter sports, where teams of 2-4 run down a narrow, twisting, banked, iced track in a gravity-powered sled. The times are combined to calculate the final score. Cricket is a bat and ball game where one team tries to throw a long pitch while the other team hits and tries to score by running the 22 yard field. It is some-what similar to our baseball. Pushcart is where people make homemade carts they are similar to our race carts. They use them in derbys. The major income for Jamaica comes from Fishing, Tourism, and Mining.
